Bothered by unimportant notifications? Android Nougat has a Do Not Disturb mode that you can enable to block all notifications that you feel are unimportant. This feature is not new to Android as it was introduced in Android M which could be accessed via the notification bar. As you can access notification bar from any screen, you can enable or disable Do Not Disturb function from any screen. Furthermore, Android N has an option to include Do Not Disturb toggle in the volume controls. Which means if you press either the volume up or down button to access the volume controls, a slider will appear that, when pressed, will let you control device’s overall volumes. How to add Do Not Disturb toggle in the volume control in Android N
The Do Not Disturb toggle is added via the System UI Tuner. It is experimental and hidden by default. This is why you need to enable it first. To do so, first you need to enable Developer options. To enable Developer options, go to system Settings > scroll down to About device / phone / tablet > tap on build number 7 times. Developer options is now enabled and you can find it in system settings.
Now to add Do Not Disturb toggle in the volume controls, pull down the notification bar all the way till you see the Quick Settings. You will find a small gear icon next to the profile button. Tap and hold it till it start to spin and then release it. System UI Tuner is now enabled. You can find it in system settings. Go to System UI Tuner and tap on Do Not Disturb.
Now, enable the Show with volume controls toggle. Now whenever you access the volume controls, you can use the Do Not Disturb function from right there.
