The method that helps to play YouTube in the background is by using the browser. Yes, you read it right we will be using the browser to run YouTube on the background. How? Let’s find.
For iOS users i.e iPhone or iPad, use a third-party app called Dolphin Mobile Browser to play YouTube video on background, then exit (press home button or swipe up) the Dolphin app and resume playback using the iOS control centre. Not only Dolphin but you can also use pre-installed browser Safari but it’s not working on a latest iOS version.
Using Dolphin Mobile Browser
- First, Download the Dolphin MobileBrowser from the iOS app store in your iPhone, iPad or any other iOS devices.
- Once the download completes, Open the URL youtube.com in your Dolphin browser.
- Now, navigate to the video you want to listen to. Press Play.
- Exit the Dolphin app and you’ll be able to resume it back from the iOS Control centre.
Using Safari Browser
If you are using Safari Browser then follow these steps. You don’t need to download safari as it is pre-installed on your iOS devices like iPhone and iPad.
Note: Safari does not support background play for youtube on the latest iOS version.
- Open Safari Browser in your iOS device.
- Search for the content that you want to listen to in the background. Tap and play the video.
- Now exit the safari app and go to the home screen.
- To resume the video swipe up to the iOS Control centre and tap on the play button.
