First, download the lastest version of VLC media player. You can change the brightness of your display while watching a video by swiping up or down on the left side to increase and decrease the brightness. This will work regardless of whether you are in portrait or landscape mode.
Changing the volume is as simple as adjusting the brightness. Swipe up or down on the right side of the screen while on a video to increase or decrease the volume respectively. Again, this works regardless of whether you are in portrait or landscape mode or using the speaker or a headphone.
Use gestures controlled playback on VLC – Seeking
While vertical gestures controls the volume and the brightness; horizontal gestures control seeking. When you swipe from left to right, the video will skip ahead and if you swipe from right to left, the video will rewind. The level of seeking depends on how far you swipe. If you swipe from left to right further the video will skip further. The same works for rewinding.
There’s one more gesture that works on VLC. When you’re dragging horizontally to seek, you can move your finger vertically to control the playback speed. If you swipe horizontally from left to right and vertically downwards, you can replay the video at a bit lower speed. If you want to watch the video in its normal speed, do the same but instead of vertically swiping downwards; go upwards.
