Great news for Cyanogenmod (CM) users. CM developers are planning to add a “run in incognito” mode in the latest Cyanogenmod ROM. Users will be able to simply go to system settings and turn this feature on. In the Incognito mode, third party apps will not be able to access your personal information. Even when the apps request such information, your ROM or operating system will return empty list for contacts, messages, calendar and browser history. Gingerbread still the most used Android OS: Android usage Report
Chitika insights recently conducted a study regarding the OS fragmentation or usage percentage among six versions of Android OS- Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich and the latest Jelly Bean. The study showed that Gingerbread had the highest usage of 42%, followed by Ice Cream Sandwich 34.3 %, Jelly Bean 13.6%, Froyo 7.9% and Eclair 1%. WE can see that Gingerbread though an old OS, still has a far better share than the latest Jelly Bean. This is because many carriers and hardware vendors take a lot of time to bring new OS updates for their devices and consumers must wait for those releases. Continue reading
Best Custom ROM: Install Cyanogenmod 10.1
The Cyanogenmod community has now released the unofficial android 4.2 release called the Cyanogenmod 10.1. Currently the 10.1 nightlies are released for many selected models. Though a stable release is yet to come, the cynogenmod users are already downloading/updating their roms and are reporting numerous bugs. Based on these reports the 10.1s are updated almost daily eliminating any known issues for the particular android smart phone.
