The Motorola Moto G’s Google Play Edition can be now updated to Android’s latest version, since the 5.1 Lollipop update now starts rolling out for the device. The device had recently been updated to 5.0.2 Lollipop, but it is not so surprising for the Moto GPe to get updated again, since Motorola had already promised for the update, and the Moto devices nowadays are usually the second (after Nexus, and sometimes third, if we count the Android One devices) to get the latest update from Google.

5.1 Lollipop OTA update rolling out for MOTO G GPE

The latest update for the Moto G GPe pushes its build number to LMY47M. Since this is the Google Play Edition version, this phone will have clean and stock Android similar to the Nexus devices. The other versions of this device also have near stock Android, but not as clean as the GPe edition. You can see the changelog, with all the goodies of the Android 5.1 Lollipop here, as provided by Google. The update is mostly about bug fixes and improvements, although there are a few new features and changes that are worth noting, like HD Voice (for compatible devices only) Device Protection, Dual-SIM support and a few other minor tweaks.

Useful for you :

If you are the owner of Moto G GPe, you might have already got a notification for the update. If you have it now, click on it, and then proceed to download, and install it at last. You’d like to connect to a WiFi network before downloading though, since the file size is pretty large (171 MB). Your phone will restart after installing, but make sure that you have at least 40% charge left in your device before installing the update. The 5.1 Lollipop OTA update rolling out for Moto G GPE is in phases, so do not panic if you have not got it yet, the one for you might be on its way, and will arrive in a day or two. You can check for the update on your phone manually too, by going to Menu >> Settings >> About Phone >> System Updates.
